Cooperation in Armenia to foster environmental dialogue.
On the 29 July 2020, the “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center”, the “Environmental Impact Expertise Center” SNCOs and the Aarhus Center in Yerevan signed the Memorandum of Cooperation in the distribution of environmental information on environmental impact expertise and assessment procedure.
The Memorandum was signed by Artyom Tarzyan, Director at the “Environmental Impact Expertise Center”, Levon Azizyan, Acting Director at the “Hydrometereology and Monitoring Center” and by Narine Solomonyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment in Armenia and National Focal Point to the Aarhus Convention.
The acting Minister of Environment Vahe Jilavyan participated to the signing of the Memorandum as well.
The document focuses on deepening the cooperation on environmental information on environmental impact expertise and assessment procedure, activating a conversation between the Government and the Aarhus Centres, thus enabling the parties to foster a constructive dialogue.
Joint training seminars will be held within the framework of the memorandum and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) materials will be released to the public.
By signing the Memorandum, Aarhus Centres are taking part in public hearings stipulated by the Environmental Impact Assessment Law of the Republic of Armenia.
