The Gavar Aarhus Centre supports and promotes the implementation of the Aarhus Convention in Gavar and in the Gegharkunik Province in Armenia.
The Gavar Aarhus Centre serves as a link between the government, regional government and NGOs in the field of environmental policy-making and implementation in Armenia.
The Centre promotes co-operation between environmental organizations from the Gegharkunik region and their counterparts, such as national and international NGOs. It also serves as a basis for building a coalition of environmental NGOs.
The Public Environmental Information “Gavar Aarhus Centre” was established on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia, the Gegharkunik Regional Government and the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
